5月18日，加州大學(xué)董事會(huì)經(jīng)投票決定成立加州大學(xué)伯克利分校計(jì)算、數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)和社會(huì)學(xué)院(College of Computing, Data Science, and Society，簡(jiǎn)稱(chēng)CDSS)。這是該校繼1969年戈德曼公共政策學(xué)院成立后，50多年來(lái)的首個(gè)新學(xué)院。

CDSS學(xué)院將開(kāi)發(fā)、實(shí)施和共享高質(zhì)量的、以道德為導(dǎo)向和可獲得的課程，在數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)、計(jì)算和統(tǒng)計(jì)學(xué)方面教育多樣化的學(xué)生群體。它還將通過(guò)開(kāi)創(chuàng)性的多學(xué)科研究，以及利用伯克利整個(gè)校園的優(yōu)秀資源，為社會(huì)問(wèn)題創(chuàng)造新的領(lǐng)域、應(yīng)用和解決方案。

正如伯克利校長(zhǎng)Carol T. Christ所說(shuō)，這是一所將計(jì)算，數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)和統(tǒng)計(jì)學(xué)方面的優(yōu)秀研究和教育與校園中的許多數(shù)據(jù)密集型學(xué)科聯(lián)系起來(lái)的新學(xué)院，將數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)的力量注入多個(gè)學(xué)科，從基礎(chǔ)和應(yīng)用科學(xué)到藝術(shù)和人文科學(xué)。

CDSS學(xué)院連接了數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)本科研究項(xiàng)目、計(jì)算生物學(xué)中心、電氣工程與計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)系（EECS）、統(tǒng)計(jì)學(xué)系、伯克利數(shù)據(jù)科學(xué)研究所和巴卡爾地球數(shù)字材料研究所，提供了9個(gè)碩士課程和5個(gè)博士課程，其碩士課程將于9月開(kāi)放24Fall申請(qǐng)。
